Trauma

Trauma comes in many forms. Whether you are dealing with complex developmental trauma, single-event trauma, recovery from physical, emotional, or psychological abuse, combat or first-responder trauma, or any other type of trauma, there is hope for recovery and healing the wounds you carry with you every day that others may not see. Trauma often results in disconnection between the body and the heart and mind. People can become stuck in a survival or stress state or experience trauma-related reactions during seemingly safe moments or activities. My approach to working with trauma focuses first on exploring and meeting you where you are at. For many, this means starting with rediscovering and establishing a baseline of safety within yourself and your body, reconnecting to a sense of self, and learning how to more finely attune to the cues your body is giving you about what does and does not feel safe. From this place of safety and grounded sense of self we can begin to boldly process the traumas themselves through a combination of Brainspotting, Emotion Focused Therapy, Trauma-Centered Trauma-Sensitive Yoga, narrative therapy and verbal processing. These are evidence-based approaches that have brought relief, healing, and wholeness to many individuals recovering from trauma.
